• The Blue Axanthic Iguana, also known as the Blue Iguana, is a rare and visually stunning species of iguana native to the Cayman Islands. These iguanas are known for their striking deep blue coloration, which is caused by a genetic mutation that affects the pigmentation of their skin. The Blue Axanthic Iguanas are critically endangered, with only a few hundred individuals left in the wild due to habitat destruction, invasive species, and illegal poaching.In an effort to save the Blue Axanthic Iguana from extinction, conservation efforts have been implemented on the Cayman Islands. The Blue Iguana Recovery Program, established in 1990, aims to increase the population of Blue Iguanas through breeding and reintroduction programs. The program has made significant progress in increasing the population of Blue Iguanas, but the species still faces many threats to its survival.

  Despite the challenges facing the Blue Axanthic Iguana, there is hope for their future. Through continued conservation efforts, habitat protection, and public awareness campaigns, the Blue Iguana population may be able to recover and thrive once again in the wild.
