Q1: What size tank/ enclosure should I get?

A: Babies: Medium critter keeper or a 12x12x12 glass enclosure.

Adults: 18x18x18 glass enclosure.

Q2: What should I have set up in this enclosure for my Gargoyle gecko?

A: For substrate you can use sphagnum moss, paper towels or cypress mulch. Provide foliage, branches, cork bark, and shallow feeding bowls.

Q3: What type of lighting set up does my gecko require?

A: No lighting system is necessary. A UVB 5.0 bulb is optional but not required. Temperatures of 75-78 degrees is ideal for their enclosure. It’s optional for adults to have a heating pad on the outside of the enclosure but they need to have a cooling side to escape the heat.

Q4: What humidity levels does my gecko require?

60-80% humidity levels are necessary and you should be misting their enclosure 1-2 times a day.

Q5: What were we feeding this gecko at Tikis Geckos?

A: We mainly feed Repashy Mango Superblend, Repashy Classic and Pangea Breeding Formula (occasionally we rotate the other flavors of Repashy and Pangea). Babies and juveniles should get crickets once a week. Adults should get crickets once a week.

Q6: What are some treats I can introduce to my gecko?

A: Phoenix worms, mealworms, and fresh mangos.

Q7: How often should I be feeding my gecko?

A: Babies: Should have access to food daily. Diets can last up to 2 days once prepared.

Adults: 1-3 times a week.

Q8: What type of supplements should I include in my geckos diet?

A: Calcium with D3 on the insects ONLY. Do NOT add calcium to Repashy or Pangea diets.

Q9: How long can my gecko live for?

A: With proper care, a Gargoyle gecko can live 10-30 years.

Q11: At what age will my gecko reach full size?

A: On average, Gargoyles will reach full size at about 2 years old.

Q12: At what age should I be able to know the sex of my animal?

A: At around 20 grams, males will develop a hemipenal bulge, Females will not.

Q13: Is my gecko a solitary animal? Can I put my gecko in the same enclosure with another gecko?

A: Babies: Should be housed alone. Adults: 1 male with multiple females can be housed together in an enclosure but they will breed. Multiple females can be housed together in the proper set up. Males should never be housed together.

Q14: What are some signs I should look for if there is something wrong with my gecko?

A: If the animal is looking lethargic, has shedding issues, if the limbs become swollen or starts to develop any deformities, diarrhea or obesity issues, etc. Please contact us with photos and videos if you start to notice any of these symptoms.

Q15: I just received my gecko, what should I do now?

A: Once you take your animal out of its shipping box, place your animal in its enclosure and leave it alone for the first 24 hours to lessen stress levels. Make sure to have water available. Offer food after 24 hours, wait until the gecko has settled in before handling.
